      If you do not have a CCSF Email or CCSF Student ID Number, you will need to apply to CCSF.

    • Cardiac Sonography Profession Questions 
    • The purpose of the cardiac sonography profession questions is to expose a prospective applicant to the cardiac sonography profession. Cardiac sonographers interact with the community. Understanding how to properly communicate with the public are essential skills of a cardiac sonographer. An applicant can use any means available to answer the following questions.
       
      Instructions
      • Provide a brief original answer to each question.
      • Application screening includes the quality of answers which indicate your research into sonography. Two or more incorrect or poorly answered questions are grounds for disqualification due to a lack of research and interest in the profession.
      • Your written communication skills are expected to be at the college level. “Yes” or “no” responses are not acceptable.

    • Unofficial Transcripts
      You must upload all unofficial domestic and international transcripts from every college/university you attended and all College Board transcripts with AP test results of three or higher. You must upload an unofficial transcript if you took courses at CCSF. If accepted into the program, you must provide official domestic and international transcripts to the DCS program.

    • Prerequisite Courses to Complete Before Application

      These courses must be completed before applying to the program. Applicants with courses currently in progress may apply but will be placed on a waitlist. Anatomy, physiology, must be completed within seven years of the application date. If any of these courses were taken not at CCSF, you may need to complete a Course Equivalency Form.

      Completion of sections 3-8 are not required for program application or admission; however, they are used in the program’s point-based selection process. Applicants should review the DCS Program Multi-Criteria Worksheet and submit required supporting documentation for all categories for which points are requested.

    • Physical, Mental, and Emotional Aptitude for Cardiac Sonographers
       
      The Physical, Mental, and Emotional Aptitude for cardiac sonographers can be found here under the accordion titled "Physical, Mental, and Emotional Aptitude for cardiac sonographers."
    • Physical Exam, Vaccine Proof, Immunization Proof, Background Check, and Drug Screen
      If accepted into the DCS program, the following requirements must be met:
      • Physical examination by a physician to determine a student meets the physical, mental, and emotional aptitude requirements for a cardiac sonographer
      • Vaccination proof of Tdap, seasonal influenza (flu), and Tuberculin test
      • Immunization proof of COVID-19, Rubeola, Rubella, Mumps, Varicella, and Hepatitis B
      • Negative background check
      • Negative drug screen
    • Felonies or Misdemeanors
       
      Felony or misdemeanor convictions, regardless of disposition or resolution, may affect an applicant’s eligibility to sit for national certification examinations administered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and/or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Many clinical affiliates and healthcare facilities require sonographers to hold or be eligible for professional certification as a condition of employment.

      Applicants with a felony or misdemeanor conviction must obtain an eligibility determination from CCI and/or ARDMS prior to completing the Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program. Determining examination eligibility is solely the responsibility of the applicant. The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography Program does not participate in, influence, or intervene in this process.

      CCI and ARDMS review felony and misdemeanor convictions on a case-by-case basis and may charge a fee for eligibility review or pre-application determination.
